Retronix Sponsor University Scholarship
A new Scholarship Fund has been set up in conjunction with the University of Strathclyde in memory of Eilidh McHugh – an outstanding student and much loved member of family friends of Kathleen and Tony Boswell, Directors of Retronix.
The Eilidh McHugh Scholarship Fund was founded in memory of Eilidh, who died in March 2017 at the age of 22 after a short battle with cancer.
Eilidh graduated from Strathclyde University with a first class honours in Pharmacy in 2016 and was just about to qualify as a pharmacist when she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
In honour of Eilidh, her family decided to establish the Eilidh McHugh Scholarship Fund to support other promising students. Retronix is proud to be sponsoring one of these scholarships.
Kathleen and Tony’s daughters grew up with Eilidh and her sister Kerry – the two families have remained very close over the years so it is fitting for Retronix to sponsor a scholarship in an effort to continue to honour this special girl while giving another student an incredible opportunity to study at university.
The Scholarship itself provides opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to study at the University of Strathclyde. Each scholar receives £5,000 over four years to support the fundamental costs of university such as transport and learning resources, allowing them to overcome financial hurdles and fulfil their ambitions for the future.
The Eilidh McHugh Retronix Scholarship is one of a total twenty one scholarships funded by supporters of the cause including businesses and individuals. These scholarships, created in memory of Eilidh, will provide many students with the opportunity and support to continue their studies at university.
